Justice-involved youth are subject to a series of rehabilitative mandates while housed in local facilities. However, some legislative mandates and best-practice recommendations do not account for the ongoing safety concerns these offenders may present to department personnel. This course covers: officer/facility safety, offender sophistication, staff manipulation techniques, contraband introduction/management, effective communication strategies, peer-victimization tactics/gang activity, and non- sworn/service provider collaboration and accountability. Add-On Information * This course is tailored for officers who work in facilities. * Highlights safety and security challenges, including: * Contraband introduction * Staff manipulation * Civil/criminal liability * Officer and facility safety concerns * This course includes a guest speaker who was convicted of smuggling contraband into a correctional facility. * In-Person * 8 Hours
