Employing non-coercive and realistic de-escalation strategies is critical when interacting with vulnerable populations. This course will introduce participants to the foundational principles of de-escalation, cover actionable concepts through scenario-based discussion/debrief, facilitate light practice of effective controlling force techniques, and review the importance of law enforcement legitimacy and procedural justice.
